With a strong focus on future growth we are now looking for a R&D Engineering Manager to work across our global platform.


As the R&D Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for day to day management of the R&D Engineering team and responsibility for Daniels’ Washsmart machine production facility. This would include project management, asset maintenance, preventative maintenance, quality assurance and people management to ensure a successful Engineering function. 

Essentially this would include: 

  • Lead, coach and develop the team to provide consistent & reliable engineering expertise
  • Ensure all targets and deadlines are met to agreed costs 
  • Manage the development of R&D projects
  • Strategically draw out improvements
  • Initiate and implement the company’s strategic direction
  • Manage the production and maintenance of Washsmart machinery to agreed quality, cost and reliability requirements
  • Scheduled planned maintenance, cost management and wash quality of collectors effectively managed
  • Cost reduction activities and measures
  • Manage monthly global dashboards and reports of equipment efficiency
  • Manage the quality of equipment as well as manufacturing of goods
  • Mange the Engineering Change Notice/Request (ECN/ECR) process to identify areas of continuous improvement.

The ideal leader will possess 8 to 15 years’ worth of R&D engineering experience within a production, manufacturing and/or mechanical environment. Your experience in the above responsibilities is imperative as well as your adaptable, strategic and influential persona. 

Beneficial experience/knowledge:

  • Understanding of pneumatic and electromechanical systems design
  • Solid knowledge of different manufacturing techniques including metal fabrication, machining & automation
  • Basic foundation in CAD, preferably Solidworks
  • Analysis of mechanical systems including physical and simulated testing methods
  • Research and analyse design briefs, supplier specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
  • Supplier relationship management
